Use of personal information

Visitors may use the public pages of this site, including the calendar and gallery, without creating an account or submitting personal information. If you voluntarily contact the orchestra program by email, the information you provide is used only to respond to your message or address the matter you raised.

Authorized staff members who manage the calendar and gallery use a username and password to sign in. For those accounts, this site stores a username, an assigned role and a one-way cryptographic hash of the password. Passwords are not stored in readable form.

Personal information submitted to this site will not be sold, rented or transferred to unaffiliated third parties except as disclosed at the time of collection, required to provide a requested service, or required by law.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file stored by a web browser. This site uses one cookie when an authorized staff member signs in so the site can maintain that protected session. The cookie contains a signed session token, is marked HttpOnly and SameSite, and expires after twelve hours or when the user signs out.

This site does not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies or analytics profiling. Web browsers generally allow users to reject, selectively accept or delete cookies. Rejecting or deleting the session cookie will make staff-only functions unavailable.

Log files

Like most standard website hosts, the service supporting this site may automatically record technical information about requests, such as internet protocol (IP) address, browser type, referring or exit pages, platform type, date and time, and pages requested.

This information is used for security, troubleshooting and maintaining the availability of the site. We do not use these technical logs to create advertising profiles or to identify visitors personally beyond what is reasonably necessary for those purposes.

Photographs and student privacy

Photographs published in the gallery are selected and posted by orchestra staff for program-related purposes. Students are not identified by name in image captions. Families who have a concern about a photograph may contact the orchestra director using the information below and request its removal.

Questions about district-wide student records, student privacy requirements or media-consent procedures should be directed to the School Town of Munster. This page describes the practices of the Munster Orchestras site only.

This site may contain links to other websites, including school and music organizations. Once you follow a link to another website, that organization's own privacy policy and practices apply. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of websites that we do not operate. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected through this site.

Security

This site takes reasonable precautions to protect personal information. Administrative pages require a valid session, sign-in attempts are rate limited, passwords are protected with one-way cryptographic hashing, and uploads are restricted to approved image types under a fixed size limit. Production traffic is encrypted in transit where supported by the hosting service.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Accordingly, while we work to protect information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy statement changes, the revised version will be posted on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means the updated statement applies to information collected after the revision.
